Thoughts of a Wanderer Beneath the Night Sky ...

I used to wander the night away, in the country apart from the city's lights and distractions.

 

I would walk beneath the moon's light and occasionally a star would fall, making me wonder if it fell for me to wish upon.

 

But then I grew up.

 

Then I was caught up in the convenience of electricity, the fast-pace of society, the daily rhythm of the world. There and then was all there was and the future seemed non-existent.

 

Dreams belonged to children and those with no life and hope was only a myth. And everyone's life was the same: no less, no more, none different.

 

But I grew weary of growing up and my tears were inevitable with the pain I bore.

 

I found myself walking beneath the stars, as I once did before.

 

The stars still devotedly shone their light, the moon was constant, as well. And while walking beneath the night sky all my dreams returned, my future seemed vast,

 

And then came the hope that maybe I hadn't grown up, after all...
